"Don't put all your eggs in one basket " , The origin of the phrase is unclear, but it is commonly referenced to the book Don Quixote written by Miguel Cervantes in the early 1600s. Don't focus all of your attention on one thing or in one area, in case that situation changes or goes awry. How applicable is that in every area of life? The phrase suggests that someone has physically put all the eggs they have in one basket and is then at risk of dropping the basket or perhaps missing out on something that would have benefited them. Maybe not "seeing" what was right before their own eyes and/ or losing everything they worked hard for. Alternatively, the proverb suggests, you should weigh your alternatives and put some eggs in one basket and some in another. If you have not eaten a duck egg or baked with one, let me give you some insight on its health benefits. I think there are many reasons we are steered to or from things in this world and miss great opportunities because of it. First, eggs in general are a superfood. They are one of the healthiest whole foods you can eat. A powerhouse packed with so many nutrients particularly the yolk. A duck egg has twice the omega 3's as a chicken egg. Duck eggs are loaded with Vitamins A, E, B-12,D,E. It contains, Iron, Iodine, zinc, folate, choline. Choline alone is huge for our cells and brain. Choline, according to researchers, is hard to get enough of it from any one source and egg yolk is loaded with it making it easier to get what we need. When ducks are allowed to roam free, eating their natural diet, it greatly enhances the nutrients in the eggs. Whether its a chicken egg or a duck egg, we can benefit from both but duck eggs have more nutrients to offer. Not to mention their cuteness alone is valuable. They are great foragers, eat less then chickens, hardier and less prone to sickness. Another benefit to duck eggs is they are well known for their incredible use in baking. If you have never tried a duck egg, I recommend getting them as fresh as possible and better yet, if you have a natural environment to provide for them, they are worth it in every way. Contrary to popular belief, eggs are extremely good for us. Because many people have "health issues" due to bad habits and inflicted damage, it is wise to make sure eggs can be beneficial for you. We have become sensitive, intolerant and allergic to whole foods due to human intervention of the natural law of things. When the engine of a car is given kool-aid, does it run? One part goes down after another, like domino's. Food issues can be corrected with good habits conducive to our bodies needs. Eggs are a real powerhouse! Give a duck egg a try and don't put all your eggs in one basket !
