According to Clean Label project who has investigated in the coffee industry, found the use of methylene chloride, a PAINT STRIPPER chemical being used in the decaf process, as well as acrylamide contamination a probable carcinogen. Clean label project tested 20 top brand brewed coffees. 40% of those brands had trace levels of Methylene chloride. These companies use it as a heat solvent to strip the caffeine out of the coffee beans. Some of those companies are Kirkland signature, Gevalia Kaffe, Seattles Best, Green mountain Kroger, Amazonfresh, Maxwell House, Peets coffee. If it doesnt tell you it is SWISS PROCESSED assume you are buying paint Stripper tainted Decaf Coffee. I Learned of Poverty Bay Coffee over a decade ago after reading of chemical usage in decaffeinated coffee beans. It has been our longstanding favorite. Whether you drink just regular, decaf or some of both, I highly recommend Poverty Bay for a healthy robust flavored coffee. I personally enjoy 50/50 so it was important to find a company who uses the Swiss process.
